The
History of the Lion of Judah Church
October
of the year 2000, the Lord imparted a vision to the Reverend Frank
L. Gibson, III to embark on a new venture, which would require
tremendous faith, work, sacrifice, courage, and endurance. Reverend
Gibson obediently heeded to the call of God and founded The Lion
of Judah Church, (affectionately known as LOJ), In November of
2000, with eight dedicated saints and many supporters, LOJ held its
first worship service on January 14, 2001 at 122 Old Largo Road
in Largo, Maryland.
In
less than two years, in August 2002, God blessed The Lion of
Judah to move from its initial Worship Facility and take possession
of a "new land" in a fully operational Worship Center
located at 6200 Annapolis Road, in Landover Hills, Maryland. The
facility included a beautiful Sanctuary that seated over 500,
a Children's Center that was equipped with a comprehensive Computer
Learning Center and an abundance of teaching materials for the
spiritual development of our children. The facility also hosted
a multi-purpose Fellowship Hall and a counseling center. On October 6, 2002, nine men and women of
God were ordained as the first Deacon Board of the Lion of Judah.
During this season, Bishop-Elect Gibson also licensed LOJ’s first
five Ministers of the Gospel. These individuals, other LOJ leaders,
members, and volunteers were invaluable assets in the growth of
the church.
In
June 2005, the Judah family moved their praise to 9901 Business
Parkway in Lanham, MD. In less than five years, the congregation
has grown to over 500 members and has established over twenty
active ministries revolving around the principals of a ministry
that is "spiritually alive, biblically based, culturally
aware, socially sensitive, family oriented, and youth friendly."
Those who make contact with LOJ, experience the power and favor
of God in their lives through prayer and powerful ministries. The Lord continues to transition
and elevate LOJ in Spirit and in Worship, Bishop-Elect Gibson teaches
the Judah Family "to whom much is given much is required".
The Lion of Judah Church will continue to be a vessel seeking
to bring souls to Christ and is instrumental in changing the lives of
individuals in our neighboring communities, the entire District of
Columbia Metropolitan Area, and throughout the world.
It is our purpose to change the lives of individuals in the District
of Columbia Metropolitan Area and throughout the world. Every
blessing is made possible through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The
praise never stops as we build the Kingdom of God. We are
“A Serious Church for Serious Christians”
